Sleep paralysis tickling stories are all over the internet. As always, there’s a scientific explanation for it, although I understand why some people consider it paranormal. I’ve seen The Haunting of Hill House on Netflix and they depicted sleep paralysis in the most horrific way. What can I say? It’s in the horror genre, it’s supposed to scare us. Maybe there is a paranormal bit in real life sleep paralysis, I don’t know. I will tell you how it is for me every time it happens. My sleep paralysis is “extra” though. It only occurs when I have to force myself to wake up from a tickling nightmare. I have not experienced this in a while. I guess the time has come for me to write about it.
My sleep paralysis tickling episodes started when I was 6 years old. We can’t Google things back then so I didn’t know what to call the experience. I often get seemingly normal dreams that turn dark and it involves this unpleasant tickling sensation on my neck. And then sleep paralysis upon waking up. In my dreams, sometimes I can see someone doing the tickling, a lot of times no one’s doing it. The only way to make it stop is by forcing myself to wake up. A strong tickling sensation concentrated on the right side of my neck. It’s like having convulsive seizures except it does not involve the entire body. In my dreams, I tried fighting it and waiting for it to go away, but nothing ever worked. Only waking up can make it stop.
Dreams rarely make sense. The one I had started with me casually flipping through a photo album while watching TV with my sister. I was on the sofa laying on my stomach, looking at this photo album (with moving images like the Daily Prophet). My sister was sitting on the floor as she laughed at the sight of my mom being on some TV game show. I glanced quickly. I saw my mom wearing a black starfish costume about to dive into a shallow kiddie pool. She would never do that in real life.
I could be doing other things but I just can’t stop looking at this photo album. At first, the images were not interesting until the photo of a doll soaked in blood. And I thought, okay, I’ll keep looking here and I might see weirder things. After the bloody doll was a photo of a ball, shaped like a Tupperware Shape-O Toy, it turns out it’s an old picture frame. Each hole has photos of people I don’t recognize. I flipped past this page but I went back to it when I realized something written right next to the image. The text says it’s possible to see the future of each person in the photos. I leaned forward for a closer inspection. Out of the blue, it triggered the uncontrollable tickling sensation on my neck.
We all know what it feels like to get tickled but the sensation I’m talking about is nothing like that. It’s forceful yet not painful, and uncontrollable in a dream state. The weird thing about it is, the sensation stops immediately as soon as I open my eyes. Last night’s dream was freaky but it wasn’t something I would consider a nightmare. Unfortunately, there’s no escape from this pain in the neck sleep paralysis tickling. I had to force myself to wake up. No sleep paralysis demon or bent neck lady or anything like that but it always takes a few seconds to feel something or even move slightly.
The image below is closest to the sleeping position I was in when I woke up. Except, my right leg was straight (also, I’m a woman and this guy has a weird sleep face).
Check out this data from my fitness band. It registered that I woke up abruptly at 12:01 AM but I wasn’t able to grab my phone and check the time until 12:02 AM. I’ll walk you through how I force myself to wake up and move normally every time I experience sleep paralysis. First, I’m (almost) always 100% aware that I’m in a dream when I’m dreaming. It helps me ignore the visuals and sounds especially in nightmares so I can focus on waking up. I shut my eyes as tight as I could and then slowly open them to check if I’m back in the real world or not. If it’s easy to open my eyes, I’m not awake yet. When I feel it takes a lot of effort to keep my eyes open, it means I successfully woke myself up.
I must keep at least one eye open because I’ve had “dreamception” episodes in the past where I thought I woke up but actually fell asleep again. On rare occasions, the dream becomes positive, however, in most cases my brain either takes me back to the same nightmare or comes up with a fresh nightmare. When it’s hard to move, I focus on breathing and keeping my eyes open first and then try to feel where my hand is. I usually pinch or scratch whichever of my body parts is closest to my fingers to wake the rest of my body up. Experts say sleep paralysis is not deadly, and that’s great news. It’s still a pain in the neck to snap out of it though.

Yeah, I still go through this every now and then. My tickle sensations were always in my hips. I’ve been having these ever since I was like 3 or 4 years old. I’m 16 now. Like you said earlier, my dreams would seem normal at first, and then turn evil.
Let me give you one of my experiences I had recently: I was at a convenience store with my sister looking for snacks and drinks. Her and I were having a great time together and having great conversations. But all of a sudden, this man comes up to us suspiciously. His face looked really blank though. He walks up and says “Let me touch your sister.” Of course I quickly tell him no and tell him to get away from us. Well, he touched her anyway on her right breast. After this happened, I got ready to hit him, but then everything went pitch black and I started getting tickled in my hips. I always realize at this point that I’m stuck in a nightmare. In other words, a demonic attack. So fun fact, I also believe in God. I have every since I was younger because I grew up in a non-religious believing church. So I yelled “Jesus” and I was released. Oftentimes, my mouth is paralyzed as well, so sometimes I have to think “Jesus” and I will be let go.
So I said all that to say that these experiences may not be explained the best scientifically, but I do know that they are spiritual attacks by demons. I am not here to force you to believe anything you don’t want to believe, but I do come to give you understanding from my perspective as someone who used to see the full supernatural realm, even before I ever believed in God.
Even if you don’t believe my story, I hope this gave you some understanding a little bit. Have a good day.
Yup my tickle sleep paralysis is the same as yours from waist to the right side of my neck & i too am having this kinda sleep paralysis from since when i was a child .
The dreams i see are of 95% nightmares and sleep Paralysis.. Waking up in the middle of the night.. I slowly learnee to control my dreams and somewhat get conscious like i know I'm in a dream.. And i know when the sleep paralysis gonna happen & what trigger my dream to fall into a sleep paralysis so i quickly try to avoid that dream or i try to wake up before sleep paralysis
I have experienced this like a minute ago because i was too scared and i want to know whats the meaning of this dream. I go to sleep like 2:30pm and then i have a normal dream i met a boy and a girl and i also saw my friends because we were about to go out for a trip. But then they got angry and just go away, after that the stranger girl and boy left to me, the boy was good at first but after some situations happening in.my dream the girl and boy got angry the boy tried to kill me and he did but then i know i was dreaming so i pretended to be dead so that he wont kill me again, after than he was coming near me again i accidentally got up and he killed me again, then i decided to wake up, i tried to force myself to wake up but i think the boy and girl in my dreams are trying to stop.me from waking up by tickling me on my hips they both tixkle me like they are pulling me down that i cant wake up because of the feeling of being tickled because being tickled by someone makes us feel weak, after that i still cant get out, they tickled me but then i tried to grab their hands and try to pull it away from me because i think i was flying up to wake up thats why they are bellow me tickling me like they are a demon trying to get me back to that nightmare, but i successfully get off their hand to me and tried to use my strength to wake up, and then i did, i was having a hard time waking up and scared to fall asleep again because i know ill.be back to that crazy nightmare again if i fall back to sleep.
I literally had this happen to me one time when I was like 6. I felt someone tickle me under my arms - which I at first thought was my younger brother who was doing it in real life. It started off playfully but when I told “him” to stop he just wouldn’t. Kept tickling me until I was screaming and crying. I only woke up because my mother came running to me. Ever since that day I didn’t dare to sleep with my armpits out, always had my blanket tucked under.
It’s so different when you get tickled in a nightmare. You can’t move and you’re filled with fear.
I just had a dream around 2:30AM last Christmas. I was in the same position as the illustration. Someone tickled me real hard on my back. It was scary. I asked the one tickling me, whom I couldn't see, to stop; but no words wouldccome out of my mouth. I thick that was the second tickling dream. I've had several experiences on dream paralysis. They started when I was 11. I am now 61.
Just woke up from nightmare about someone tickling my neck but rather forceful could hear myself scream WHO IS THERE. i was answered by loud mumble/grumble, took me a while to move and wake up but ever so pleased ai did. Have had nightmares since I was a kid but nothing scared me like this one has. I can atill feel it. Shortly before the tickle I heard something under my bed too (i suppose i was dreaming this bit too) and still cannot look under it.
BTW I absolutely love Horror movies and none have unnerved me like this dream has, not even the dreams I have had about being chased by someone who wanted to kill me and that one was full on. I also am open to believing in spirits but this, this was so different.
My experiences is always random and the dreams don't be that weird or scary, just obscure. I just had one prior to making this comment but noticed most the time it revolves around me at school with friends/classmates..note that I usually only know at max, 4 people in the dreams: 2 or 3 I know personally and possibly 2 whom may be famous on social media that I know of. Now that I think about it, the dream after me waking up from the tickling usually ends with me running away from school to ditch and some stranger tries to grab me later on to end the dream completely. I'm 29 but dream me looks at least 21-25, yet in high school. And everybody seems to be over 18 as well. So starting off to how the tickling happened, this particular dream was focused around me and a group of friends walking to who knows where. My girlfriend (some famous IG model) was in her feelings about something and for some reason I was visually about to see her thoughts: she was feeling down about someone who died, I did not know who they were or the person who was portraying them. I then proceed to follow her as she was trying to plant a flower in their honor. I tried to make her feel better by saying I'll help and I'll plant one too in honor of someone I knew who died. She then jerks away from me and then goes to tickle my neck. I can feel within my dream that I'm feeling this in real life as well. I'm not laughing in my dream, the tickling is not painful but it becomes annoying. I'm so focused on how to stop it and why dream me is taking this "abuse" and why she's doing it in the first place, that I couldn't even hear what she was saying to me. The tickling causes my whole head to vibrate and is uncontrollable until I force myself to wake up. The weird thing is, its not a open neck to be tickled. I wake up laying similar to the photo in the original post so my right side is completely pressed against the pillows.
I have had something similar since I was 4 or younger. It was either a little gremlin chasing me, or a scary cow that ran very fast on 2 legs I called the "peekaboo cow". My tickling is under my arms painful. But tickling is also painful for me in real life. They stopped around age 9ish I think. But just last night I had a dream I was walking the aisles of a store. I saw 2 small twin girls wearing brown robes. They saw me. Then they charged at me and started the tickling. I had to try punching them away from me, but nothing worked until I forced myself awake because they were invincible and kept latching on to me (as usual).
Ever since last year, I've been experiencing dreams where there's a very intense tickling all over my body and it feels like I'm being held down and it's uncontrollable. Even when I wake up, I still feel it and I have to shake it off. I guess it's sleep paralysis but does anyone know how to stop it?
I have been experiencing this almost every night and its the same dream..so what happens is very similar something starts tickling my neck but it feels awful it feels like something is not letting me move and is pinning me to my bed because once it starts tickling me it starts pushing me to my bed but i cant see it because i sleep on my back but my eyes are open and my bed is right by my window and its almost like outside my window its not that dark it’s like yellow outside..so i can see my room and stuff but i am unable to move or speak i try to yell but my voice is like screeching almost so I just stop talking and it takes a while for it to go away and thats pretty much it i am now unable to sleep and I’m very tired in the mornings
